Being an independent consultant gave me the opportunity to continue doing the work I loved while giving me the flexibility to pursue my own concepts on the side.

The mechanical engineering network in Austin was strong and I was fortunate to stay busy with outstanding clients. Work included:

• Concept through functional prototype of a fully custom CPV solar panel with asphere reflectors concentrating sunlight onto a 2mm die while tracking the sun within 1/4 degree

• Various video conferencing products, from ground-up design to refreshes and sustaining

• A culinary heat lamp for the consumer market with redundant safety features

• Contract support for my previous employer, M3 Design

On the side I patented and licensed an invention, launched a (failed) kickstarter campaign, and pursued other ideas.
